Tykie Diapers Fitted Cloth Diaper Review

I love, love , love this diaper! It absorbs an amazing amount. It is adorable. And the fit is fantastic. We use our Tykie Diapers fitted cloth diaper as an overnight diaper. Due to my super-soaker’s tendencies, I do add an additional hemp doubler. For a normal wetter, this diaper would be plenty all by itself.

I ordered a Tykie Diapers fitted diaper after hearing rave reviews from another cloth diapering mom. I am so glad I did. I ordered the sea turtles print in a large. It fits Eva perfectly. I am not usually a fan of side snapping diapers, but this one works great for us. There are two rows of snaps, so I can adjust the waist and leg snaps separately, allowing for my skinny baby’s chunky thighs. The print I chose is done in one direction only, so when assembling the diaper it was carefully seamed so the turtles face up in both directions. So very cute!

Inside are layers upon layers of hemp fleece and bamboo velour. However, it dries quickly due to the snap in, two layer soaker. This is very similar to the design of my own bamboo velour fitteds, which could explain why I like it so much! I designed what seemed like the perfect fitted diaper to me and it turns out great minds do think alike.

Tykie Diapers also offers adorable embroidered diapers and diaper covers. All at very reasonable prices.

These are sized diapers, so you will need to buy new diapers as your baby grows. I prefer sized diapers in most cases since they offer a better fit.  For the fit, attention to detail and great absorbency, these are wonderful diapers. You can check them out at http://tykiediapers.com/

Cloth Diapers: Muttaqin Baby Review

Muttaqin baby cloth diaper on medium setting

Muttaqin baby cloth diaper on medium setting

I’d been hearing good things about the Muttaqin Baby cloth diaper for some time, so I finally took the time to order one for review. I was pleasantly surprised to see how good the prices were for a handmade bamboo diaper. No, they are not cheap, but they are a good price for the quality.

I ordered a Muttaqin Baby 3SR (three step rise) one size diaper in a pretty blue Hawaii print with soft blue inner since we are already inundated with girly prints and I am trying to build up at least some stash that will work if we have a boy someday (keep your fingers crossed for us! we are struggling with fertility issues again).

What soft, squishy diapering fluffiness! These diapers are very trim fitting and very soft. I just got word that Michelle, the WAHM behind Muttaqin Baby diapers, has added two more layers of absorbency to all her diapers. This is really good news since my only complaint about this diaper is that it is simply not absorbent enough for my little girl. With the new layering, they should be great for day time use for most babies.

The 3SR or three step rise adjustment allows you to fold the diaper down to fit from newborn to toddler. The trim fit means these should fit very nicely even on a tiny baby. Since they are stretchy they should fit well beyond the 20 pounds my little girl is now. We do have a lot of trouble getting most diapers to fit her well since she is long and skinny. I was delighted to see that the Muttaqin Baby 3SR fits her very nicely with plenty of room to grow. She is getting too tall for many diapers in medium, but is not heavy enough for a medium. With the Muttaqin, she is solidly on a medium setting.

The print did fade some with several washings, but dark prints are going to fade with the heavy washing that cloth diapers get. Overall, Iike this diaper. I wish I had tried it with the new absorbency, but I would have no problem recommending these diapers. These cloth diapers, some overnight doublers, and some wool covers would make a really easy to use stash that should last from birth to potty for an average size baby.

You can check out all the cute prints at www.muttaqinbaby.com. Hurry though, these reasonably priced diapers are on sale until September 30.

Booroi Bamboo Cloth Diaper Review

Booroi Cloth Diaper Cover

Booroi Cloth Diaper Cover

Booroi bamboo cloth diapers are soft, absorbent and easy to use. The ingeniously designed Booroi diaper cover contains leaks amazingly well and makes it easy to change diapers.

Booroi sent us a sample bamboo prefold, a cute red cover, some bamboo wipes and a wipes wet bag.

The Booroi cloth diaper cover is designed to hold the trifolded bamboo diaper. The cloth diaper cover is made from two layers of PUL. In the middle of the inner layer is a large opening to allow you to tuck in the diaper. The opening is edged with soft elastic binding. When the prefold is in place, just wrap the cover around the baby and snap in place. The soft inner elastic forms a gentle gusset or seal around baby’s legs, holding in wetness and messes.  This is the first diaper cover I have seen that offers a double gusset similar to those found in gdiapers or Rumparooz pocket diapers.

When the prefold is wet, you can change it out for a clean diaper and reuse the cover unless it is wet or messy. This makes for a very cost-effective option since you can use just a few diaper covers each day. The prefolds are made from two layers of a substantial bamboo terry cloth with an extra layer in the middle. These diapers do quilt up a lot when washed, making them very thick. They are very absorbent, but also a little bulky.

I like this prefold trifolded, and I also used it stuffed into a pocket diaper, but they are too thick and not well-proportioned for use with pins or a Snappi. They are much shorter than a standard premium prefold and much wider, making it difficult to fold them properly for fastening.

The soft, bamboo terry Booroi wipes are thin enough to be easy to use, yet thick enough to do a great job. The gentle texture makes them great for cleaning messes. The binding on the edges of the wipes does shrink a bit when washed, so the wipes do not lay flat. I actually like the slightly rounded effect of these wipes since they conform nicely to your hand when used. However, for those who store wipes in a wipes warmer they will be a little less convenient to use.

The small wet bag the wipes come in is nicely sized to hold one or two wet diapers or several wipes. The snaps allow it to snap to another wet bag to keep them together in your diaper bag.
